Life By A List

I have decided to create a list of all of the things that I want to do while living in NYC. Granted, we've lived here a year-and-a-half now and I have covered most of the things that I would like to do. But I thought it would be a good idea to get the rest of things down on a list ('cause I do love a list!). Here's a sampling of what is one there:

  1. Go to the top of the Empire State Building
  2. Visit the Natural History Museum
  3. Check out the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy
  4. Get something from Magnolia Bakery
  5. Go to a Yankees game at Yankee Stadium

Proving my point about how great lists are and how they make you more productive, as soon as I made this list, I very quickly began ticking off the items on it. So within one week of jotting all these things down, I have done the last 3 things on the list! Pretty amazing...as was experiencing each of these things. SGF ended today so Troy, Curl & I went to dinner at my favorite spot in Little Italy, Lunella. It was as yummy as ever, although we somehow got The Waiter Of Very Few Words. He totally lacked personality but still managed to be very efficient and everything was great. Then we just wandered around checking out all the fair games with their cheap stuffed animals. The best part was the Drown a Clown game because the man who was the clown was so funny heckling the crowd. And he had a maniacal laugh that justifies why people are afraid of clowns. But it was good times and I even got my Zeppolis that I'd been dying to try (after all, they sounded like they are essentially doughnuts which everyone knows is my favorite food!). Since we got them so late, I ended up with 9 for $3! Quite a deal except you can only eat maybe 2 before you're totally stuffed and then I ended up carrying around the grease-stained bag because I just can't bear to let a doughnut go. Hopefully the work crowd will eat them tomorrow.

As for the other two events I covered this week, they were also great times and great timing. My coworker and I went to an after-work event the other evening that just happened to be about 4 blocks away from this great Marc by Marc Jacobs store she'd been telling me about. So we went to check it out and low & behold...Magnolia Bakery was right on the corner! We waited until the line went down by conveniently shopping in the Marc store. Then we went to Magnolia and I had a slice of Snickers Icebox pie and a Heath toffee blondie. Yum!!! Also good timing was the fact that Curl called me late in the day on Friday to tell me she had just gotten some free Yankees tickets and did I want to go. Duh! Of course!! So we headed to the Bronx and enjoyed the game for all 5 hours, even if the Yankees couldn't take down the Blue Jays (it's okay, they would get revenge the next day).

Definitely a great NYC weekend. Too bad about that whole work thing...back to reality! But I'm so excited about the progress on my list and am determined to keep right on with it, both adding new things to it and checking them off. Makes me feel accomplished. :)

JibJab!

Star in Your Own JibJab! It's Free!
So, our friend Rob is truly a master of many things. Margaritas, hypochondria, dentistry, fashion shows and of course, taking tons and tons of random pictures. Now it seems he has finally found an outlet for this skill and has introduced me to the amazing world of JibJab.com. This is a clever site that lets you add pictures of people's heads onto funny dancing bodies. (That sounds weird...yeah, there's no way to describe it that doesn't sound weird.) For a brief illustration, I have attached one of the umpteen videos he sent me yesterday. You must check out this site. Find the craziest pictures you can of your friends and get to posting! It is truly an enjoyable and worthwhile waste of time. :)
