So...much...stuff...

I was just wondering if anyone out there has any wisdom (or opinion) on baby bottles? There seem to be so many choices out there and about all I know is that they're all BPA free (or by now should be). Feel free to expound the virtues of any other tried-and-true baby products while you're at it (swings, bouncers, diapers, pumps, etc)!

Thank you in advance for the comments! :)

Here you go, Holly... ;-)

We really liked the Playtex VentAire bottles--they were the only ones that we found to really cut down on the gas--and they're BPA Free, too!

Books to have on hand: "Baby 411"--I think I looked at this thing at least 5 times every hour...it's a really good go-to book with a really great index in the back so you can find exactly what you're looking for. Also...I swear by "Becoming Babywise"...I totally credit the schedule they teach you to having Ben sleeping 8 hours a night by the time he was 2 months old. Our Lamaze instructor told us about that book...and I tell all mommies-to-be about it!!

A few more things: MacLaren strollers are worth every penny, always keep extra diaper wipes/pacifiers/rattle thingys in your purse...and nap when baby naps. :D

Oh yeah--being a mommy is the most exhausting/wonderful/overwhelming/amazing thing you'll ever do. :D

Congrats!!!

Hey Holly
I'm so excited for you guys!

We used avent bottles and they were great because they did not have a lot of extra parts. The small bottles were great, but when we switched to the larger size...they leaked sometimes. The born free bottles are awesome too! But, they have extra parts that my husband could not seem to be bothered with! =)

Also, don't make yourself crazy with all the baby books. Take all the advice with a grain of salt and don't sweat the small stuff. I made myself crazy thinking oliver should be eating and sleeping on a certain schedule and he just would not! When I finally stopped forcing the issue and feeling guilty about EVERYTHING, he put himself on a schedule and life was good. Just go with the flow, because all babies are different.

As far as car seats and strollers, we have the chicco travel system and it is great! It was affordable and got the best reviews and is really easy to use.
Also, side snap onesies and shirts are the best for when they are tiny newborns. That way you don't have to put anything over her head.

I could go on and on...I am not going to overwhelm your blog with random advice. Please email me if you ever have any questions. I went through the ringer with oliver as a newborn, so I can probably relate to any issues you might face. And I'm about to go through it again in May....Yikes!
